Introduction

Atlantic Home Inspection is an independent company offering a dedicated service to house sellers, estate agents and solicitors involved with the Home Information Pack. Its principal Ben Ashfold has 20 years experience as a property maintenance surveyor for housing associations, local authorities and the private sector.
 

 Background

Ben’s career has been spent assessing property, subsequently repairing and improving it. He was one of the first home inspectors in England and Wales to gain the Diploma in Home Inspection and certification to practice. He is an assessor of candidates for the Diploma in Home Inspection and is a Member of the National Association of Home Inspectors.

Certification Scheme

Ben is a registered member of the SAVA Certification scheme. The scheme is responsible for: -

• Evaluating prospective Home Inspectors to determine whether they are qualified and fit & proper persons suitable to undertake Home Condition Reports (HCRs) and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)

• Maintaining a public register of their member Home Inspectors

• Periodically renewing HI membership subject to the individual demonstrating that they remain eligible, suitable and competent

• Ensuring that all HCRs and EPCs are backed up with appropriate Professional Indemnity Insurance
